Movie Lip Sync

Movie Lip Sync

This piece was an exercise in acting and fast informal talking. The source of the audio is found in the Movie Pulp Fiction during the interrogation scene. The interrogating character speaks quickly creating a challenge of having good lip-sync and keeping the mouth from simply bouncing up and down rapidly. The second character exemplifies the sensation of fear.
The rigs used were:

Extra:

From what I remember about this one my biggest mistake on the first pass was over animating the mouth to sound out every potential phonetic. Then I finally sat down and paid attention to the voice clip while also reciting it and watching my mouth. I noticed for the first time with this piece that we barely move our mouths for vowels and other sounds that don’t require us to close our mouths or move our tongue a lot.

Other than that I found out that the Ray rig 2018 version just can’t be exported at all due to a bad bind pose and a cluttered outliner, which is why this one was still rendered and Maya.
To clarify a bit the problem wasn’t exporting from Maya to Blender but from Maya to fbx and reimporting the fbx into Maya caused the exact same problems which is actually often the case when converting files.
